#20. BERNIE SANDERS’ AI-UNEMPLOYMENT SOLUTIONS vs. YOURS?)

Bernie’s 10-6-25 Report
Google - “Sander’s AI and automation report” - to: watch his 12-minute youtube; read his 25-page report; and/or, read summary articles.

The Senator presents credible data for how AI/automation will liquidate 100M jobs over the next ten years. He makes the valid points: that most of us have a desire to find self-worth through our work; and that few want to be idle and live on an insufficient, public dole. And, his solutions are for Big Government to impose top-down, socialistic solutions on private-sector employers.

Alternative solutions? Many notables are in favor of a “universal basic income” (UBI) for the underemployed victims of automation which seems like a public dole. And, whatyou’re your thoughts? Test question: what career advice would you give to a young adult? But, even if either of us had quality advice, what percentage of young adults would be able to do the hard work (on their own) to successfully surf the twin tsunamis of AI and automation?

Percentage Stats for: Couch Potatoes, Black Belts and Jedi Masters
Individual reinvention capabilities vary widely from zero to prodigious. Agency emerges from a personal stew of: genetics, upbringing, education, experiences, luck, present environmental conditions and opportunities – all amplified by quality of available support and resources.

Consider these stats for wanting to become a black-belt in a certified, martial-arts discipline. Rough estimates are:

For every 100 white-belts who enlist at a dojo, 1 will achieve black belt
Then, a shrinking percentage of those black belts will continue on: to higher degrees as a life path; and/or, to become a mentor to other path aspirants.
For every 100 enlistees, 500 visit a dojo to consider enlisting. 400 don’t.
And, how many sofa-sitters dream of being a kung fu expert without moving?

Similar funnels from countless dreamers to the rare Jedi Master can apply to other skill/mastery paths.

Questions:
  1. For any skill funnel, each group could use different empowering solutions to move to their respective, next level? What are they?

  2. Each person with an improvement dream will have a unique motivational force field that has both positive-can-do-push forces along with negative-hindering forces. If so, then:
    a. How do the sofa sitters first release their can’t-do brakes before tuning up and augmenting positive want-to and can-do forces?
    b. How do sedentaries cultivate greater, courageous curiosity to at least get out and kick tires until they find a best-for-them path?
    c. What about compulsive achievers who are striving to fulfill goals that - parents, society and consumer culture - have dictated? How might they shift their path-choices and/or rebalance their intrinsic and extrinsic motivational forces to align with their own personal essence? Can they turn dictated, have-to motivation into more sustainable get-to energy?

  3. Tech change is now transforming many jobs faster than their occupants can reskill. How many young adults need an upgrade for:
    a. Learning how to learn on their own for life to stay gainfully employed?
    b. But, learning what and how to do something is not the same as mastering it at an expert level. Who will teach young adults how to master the process of mastery? A super-power meta-skill not taught in any schools!

  4. If a “universal basic income” policy emerges in the US:
    a. What percentage of idled folks will use the subsidy to master something that will give them – a job, self-worth, and/or a chance to serve society?
    b. What percentage will become permanent, no-growth, unhappy, couch potatoes with digital and other addictions for anesthesia?

My Present Path Quest
I’m working on a grand summation of both the science and art of mastering the process of mastery to help all ages have a more fulfilling life. My blogs (like this one) and essays are warm-ups for one or more dream publications. If you share my concerns, sign up for new posts on this site. And/or, be in touch to become a collaborator.
